Judging ...
Seeing through my eyes or through God's eyes?
1 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."
(Matthew 7:1-5 NKJV)
Often we look at things only through our eyes. We don't even think about what may have caused something or how we can help the person through it, or what does God want us to do in helping the church, organization, or business. We only look at people and places with a judgemental heart.
In Matthew 7:1-5, God tells us not to judge unless we want to be judged accordingly. God also tells us not to look at the speck in another person's eye until we take care of the bigger speck in our own eye. We read straight from the words Jesus spoke, but still refuse to think it important and try to live it out.
I want to challenge you not to look and judge others around you because you might not be getting a good look at who God really is. God loves you no matter where you are at this time and God wants a personal relationship with you and wants you to become His child to serve Him. Learn how you can have a relationship with God.
Why do we judge people? For example: There was a Middle Eastern guy in the airport the other day and I immediately said to myself, "How is he going to do something to this plane?" I watched him a few minutes, still wondering. Then he picked up his cell phone. I thought, "I wonder who he is calling to let them know he is in place." I overheard his call and he was telling his mother about how blessed he had been that week at a leadership conference training college students to serve Christ. He was a brother in Christ and here I was judging him because of how he looked! That is what takes us away from serving God - we judge through our eyes and not God's eyes.
Let's look at people the way God sees them.
God bless!
Have a great Christmas season
and a happy new year!
